PROCESS & DRIVEN **TWO** EXHIBITIONS AND BOOK LAUNCH EVENT- TICKETED 

A full-day event celebrating the book launch of Creative and Professional Development for Glass Artists by Catherine Dunstan and opening of PROCESS exhibition, which celebrates the artists featured in the book.
 
Our PROCESS exhibition showcases the work of 12 glass artists working across a diverse range of working processes including stained glass, painted glass, kiln-formed glass and hot glass. Visitors will not only get the opportunity to see the gallery pieces, but also their sketchbooks, test pieces and works that are in progress, opening a window on their creative processes.
DRIVEN, an exhibit of Blowfish Glass Artists online Collective, on show in the exhibition space above the Cafe within the Red House Glass Cone site. 
The event will feature:
- Book signing with author Catherine Dunstan. 
- Live Demonstrations in Hot, Stained, Kiln-Formed Glass, Lamp Working and Glass Painting by the exhibited artists
- First access to the PROCESS exhibition, opportunity to meet the artists

The event will open at 10.30am – late.
The exhibition will be open all day, but speeches and drinks will be served at 6pm.
Additional Information
After the launch event the exhibition will be open to the general public until the 15th April. Gallery opening times are 10:30am – 3:30pm. We will be closed on Tuesdays and Bank Holidays. Entry is free and a ticket is not required to attend.

There will also be a calendar of related panel discussions and artists talks taking place online during the run of the exhibition. This event is called PROCESS Online, and will be a paid ticketed event. More details to follow!

PROCESS & DRIVEN x2 Exhibits- coinciding with Author & Glass Artist Catherine Dunstan’s new book launch 'Creative & Professional Development for Glass Artists'

Start this class as a beginner and leave as a glass-making addict. In this full day workshop, you will learn each step of the glass blowing process from experienced and encouraging glassmaking experts in their inspiring studio! 

With all of the materials, supplies and equipment needed to make your own glass provided in this workshop, learning to blow glass couldn’t be easier. 

Although you’re building your technical skills, there’s still room in this workshop for creativity- after all, you're learning from top glass-blowing artists! With all the colours you could dream of, get experimental and let your imagination take the reins to style your glass. In the beginning of this workshop, you will learn how to prepare different colour and texture techniques to apply to your glass pieces. 

You will be able to make a bowl or paperweight and choose a final form from the following list of functional objects:
- Drinking glass
- Vase
- Decorative bauble

Master how to safely and confidently heat molten glass in an 1100-degree furnace, which you will then gather and remove from the furnace using historical hand-forged tools. Make sure you’re full of hot air for the next step! Once you have perfected removing your glass from the furnace, it’s time to learn how to sculpt and blow your own glass. 

After a hard and hot graft, it’s time to chill out! Cooling your glass is equally as fascinating and important as heating your glass, at the end of the workshop, you will learn how to safely and properly cool your glass like a professional. 

Many students learn best through a combination of demonstrations and a hands-on interactive teaching approach. This workshop is no exception! You will watch a demonstration and then safely learn more about each step in the glass-blowing process by having a go yourself.

Not only will you get to take your three perfect and personalised glass pieces home at the end of the workshop, you will also be leaving with a full understanding of the glass-making process and techniques, as well as a burning hunger to create more gorgeous glass.

From the moment I arrived, I knew it was going to be a great day! We were all made to feel so very welcome, like Bethany was just happy sharing hot shop with us newbies. A perfect combination of  relaxed and fun but with the right amount of technical info thrown in.  Bethany's passion and skill shines through when she's demonstrating  (and talking at the same time, she makes it look so easy!) and everyone in the group was able to achieve some fabulous glass objects to treasure forever. A truly once in a lifetime experience! 
If you thought glassblowing was only for people with strong muscles, it's just the weight of the broom, and it's a beautiful art full of gentle movement working with this wonderful material. This course was a full day of making and helping in a small group and taking home you own design. The full day beginner masterclass was a fabulous experience. I'd wanted to try glass blowing for a long time and finally had the opportunity. 

I was in a group of 5 and the instructor, Katie had an assistant, Olivia. Katie was brilliant. It was obvious that she was very experienced and talented. She was hyper aware of what was going on around her, with 5 complete novices to keep an eye on and she kept us all super safe - no injuries from the extremely hot furnaces and glass. The instruction was spot on and was delivered confidently and with humour. I was feeling very tired by the end of the 6 hours, while Katie was alert to the end.

The lunch was a lovely buffet style and gave us a chance to chat and learn about what had brought us all to Blowfish at the Red House Glass Cone for this experience. I am a local though 2 participants had travelled from Warwick and another from Germany! 

I am excited to collect my 3 finished pieces in a couple of weeks to see how the colours turn-out when they have cooled. I thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to experience glass blowing or any creative glass activity.

What an incredible experience! We were welcomed with a brew and friendly chat followed by health and safety, Beth is a great teacher, demonstrating and then supporting us one to one. We were able to make a paperweight, a bowl and a vase or glass. We could select our colour for the glass as well.

The studio is lovely and gets very warm. Lunch is provided but take your own drinks and snacks for in between.

As this is a 1:1 activity there is a lot of watching others and taking it all in,  so prepare to get comfy. Toilets are on site and a cafe and souvenir shop. Parking is free and right opposite the studio.

My glassware was received in the post 5 days later, brilliant!

I cannot recommend this experience and Blowfish highly enough, such an incredible experience, thank you so much Beth!

Blowfish Glass is such a wonderful studio where students, up to 5/6 depending on type of work. Having attended the 2nd weekend of making caned fruits, it was absolutely incredible.  Beth & Elliot guide & assist to help you achieve some very dramatic results!, as in complete magic! 5 students,  1 brief & all completely different & gorgeous! It is a fast paced day with comraderie & great team work. It is hot, focused & drink a lot of water & when one's creation peeps out of the kiln, the squeal of delight begins & never mind getting ready for 'The Cut'! Squeals turn to, 'did we really make that?' I am unable to explain what it means!, but all I know is, I love the magic of Glass!

I did the half day taster workshop which was a great introduction to the glass shop set up and glass blowing. The facilitator was knowledgable, friendly and really hospitable. I would recommend this to anyone that is curious about glass and the glassware making process. There’s even an inspiring gallery of glass sculptures you can visit as well as the rest of the glass blowing quarter you can visit. Also free parking. Fantastic +++++

I booked for a half day experience.  I was quite surprised when the experience was over after just over two hours.  That was part was disappointing as I felt short-changed.   When my glass work arrived a few weeks later by post, the base of my blown glass bowl was terribly crooked.  That was fixed by the tutor, not me.  I feel it should have been corrected, or at least an attempt to correct it should have been made.  The badly fitted base has ruined the appearance of the bowl and I am ashamed of it, not proud of it as I had hoped.  This in my view was unacceptable and completely out of my control.  That, at least, should have been better.  Otherwise the glassblowing experience was okay.
